Five things to do in Solihull this weekend

If you're looking for something to do in Solihull this weekend, there are plenty of options across the town and wider borough.

The Solihull Food & Harvest Festival takes over the town centre, while The Core Theatre has several live music shows and a major boxing event is taking place at bp pulse LIVE.

Here are five things to do from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September.

1. Explore the Solihull Food & Harvest Festival

The three-day Solihull Food & Harvest Festival arrives in the town centre from Friday, with food, music and activities taking place across Mell Square, the High Street and Mill Lane.

The festival is free to attend and has a new look this year, including a brand-new farmers' market featuring artisan producers and local businesses.

Friday will see 17 local choirs take part in Harvest Harmony, while Saturday brings street food, live music and alfresco bars, with performances running from midday until 8pm.

Sunday has a new Barn Dance Festival Day, including free line dancing tuition, tribute acts and children's activities.

There will also be a scarecrow trail running throughout the weekend.

2. Watch live boxing at bp pulse LIVE

Boxing fans can head to bp pulse LIVE on Saturday for Queensberry Promotions' Home Stretch event.

The card includes Davies vs Collins and Heaney vs Warburton 2, with the event getting underway at 4.15pm on Saturday 26 September.

Doors open at 4pm, with tickets currently on sale.

The event takes place at bp pulse LIVE on Perimeter Road, near the NEC.

3. See Neil Young's Harvest performed live

Music fans can head to The Core Theatre on Saturday evening for Harvest – A Celebration of Neil Young.

The show sees four-piece band Orange River Remedy perform Neil Young's legendary Harvest album in its entirety, alongside other songs from his career.

Former Ocean Colour Scene member Dan Sealey will also join the band.

The performance starts at 7.15pm on Saturday 26 September at The Studio at The Core, with tickets priced from £20.

4. Go back to the rock 'n' roll era with Buddy Holly and The Cricketers

Also at The Core on Saturday night is Buddy Holly and The Cricketers, who return with their Rock 'n' Roll Legends Show.

The performance features Buddy Holly's best-known songs alongside hits associated with other 1950s stars including Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and The Everly Brothers.

The show begins at 7.30pm on Saturday 26 September and tickets are £27.

5. Finish the weekend with an Oasis tribute

Oasis fans can finish the weekend at The Core Theatre with Oasish on Sunday.

The show takes audiences through the rise of Oasis, the Gallagher brothers' solo careers and the band's reunion, with live performances and footage from the group's history.

The show starts at 7.30pm on Sunday 27 September, with tickets from £27.

More things to do in Solihull

There are plenty of other events taking place across the borough this weekend, including the Classic Bike Tour at the National Motorcycle Museum and other shows at The Core Theatre.

With the Food & Harvest Festival taking over the town centre for three days, it is also a good weekend to combine an event with a trip into Solihull for food, shopping or a walk through one of the town's parks.
