Solihull is one of seven Local Policing Areas covered by West Midlands Police, with dedicated officers and Police Community Support Officers working across the borough.

How to contact Solihull Police

Emergency — call 999

Call 999 if a crime is happening now, someone is in immediate danger or you need an urgent police response. West Midlands Police advises people to call 999 when a situation could become violent very soon or someone is in immediate danger.

Non-emergency — call 101

For non-emergency police matters, residents can call 101.

This includes reporting crimes that have already happened, providing information to the police and raising concerns that do not require an immediate response.

Online

West Midlands Police also provides online services for reporting crimes, anti-social behaviour and other concerns.

Residents can also use the force's local policing service to find the team responsible for their area by entering their postcode or address.

Solihull is divided into neighbourhood policing areas, with local officers working alongside residents, businesses, Solihull Council and other organisations.

The teams deal with local concerns, crime prevention and anti-social behaviour, while also working with specialist police units when required.

What does neighbourhood policing cover?

Local police teams can work on issues including:

For example, police in Shirley currently identify the Stratford Road corridor and Parkgate as a local priority, with officers carrying out patrols and working with businesses and partners around shop crime and anti-social behaviour.

Police have also carried out targeted operations elsewhere in Solihull, including patrols in Kingshurst, St Alphege and Solihull town centre in response to community concerns about anti-social behaviour and road safety.

West Midlands Police publishes local crime information through its Your Area pages.

The information includes reported crime levels, commonly reported offences and crime maps showing approximate locations.

For example, the Shirley area recorded shoplifting, violence and sexual offences, public order offences and vehicle crime among its most commonly reported categories in July 2026.

Crime figures can change from month to month and reported crime does not necessarily represent every incident that occurs in an area.

How to report anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour can include persistent nuisance, harassment, intimidation or behaviour that causes alarm or distress.

Non-emergency concerns can be reported to West Midlands Police, while immediate threats or situations that could become violent should be reported through 999.

The police also work with Solihull Council and other partners when dealing with persistent local problems.
