1. Dorridge Day

Sunday, September 6 | 11am to 4pm | Dorridge Park

One of the biggest community events of the weekend is Dorridge Day, which returns to Dorridge Park on Sunday.

This year's event has a carnival theme, with visitors able to expect live entertainment, local performances, traditional fete games, stalls, food and a classic car display.

There will also be a carnival parade, inflatables, a climbing wall and a water fight, making it particularly suitable for families.

A carnival wristband gives access to the inflatables and climbing wall, as well as a trail booklet, prizes and discounts, but you still need a separate admission ticket.

The event is organised by volunteers from Knowle and Dorridge Round Table, with profits going towards local causes.

2. Shirley Social Reggae Special

Sunday, September 6 | 11am to 6pm | Shirley Park

Shirley Park will turn into an outdoor reggae party on Sunday for the Shirley Social Reggae Special.

The event features a full afternoon of live music, including Lee Alexander as John Holt, Tony T, Mitchell Joseph Thompson as Ali Campbell and the One Love Band.

There will also be street food, market stalls, a bar and refreshments, with the event described as dog-friendly.

The live music runs through the afternoon, with the One Love Band bringing the event to a close from 4.45pm to 6pm.

3. Funny to The Core with Andy Parsons

Saturday, September 5 | 8pm | The Core Theatre

For a Saturday night out, Funny to The Core brings comedian Andy Parsons to The Core Theatre.

Parsons is known for appearances on shows including Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and QI, as well as his work writing for Spitting Image.

He will be joined by Peter Brush, Birmingham comedian Alex Egan and host Adam Coumas.

The show is aimed at audiences aged 16 and over and starts at 8pm.

4. The Paper Craft and Stamping Show

Saturday, September 5 | 10am to 3pm | National Motorcycle Museum

Something a little different is taking place at the National Motorcycle Museum on Saturday.

The Paper Craft and Stamping Show brings together exhibitors from around the UK selling papercraft supplies, stamps, dies, papers and embellishments.

Visitors can also see live demonstrations and pick up ideas for their own projects.

The organisers say the event is suitable for beginners as well as experienced crafters, making it a good option for anyone interested in cardmaking, stamping or other paper crafts.

The show runs from 10am until 3pm at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill.

5. Tutankhamun The Immersive Exhibition

Saturday and Sunday | NEC

There is still time to experience one of the NEC's biggest attractions of the summer, with Tutankhamun The Immersive Exhibition continuing throughout the weekend.

The exhibition combines huge projections, a 360-degree VR journey and a digital walk-through of the Valley of the Kings with museum-style displays and replicas.

Visitors can relive the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb and explore the story of the young pharaoh through a mixture of technology and historical exhibits.

The experience lasts around 85 minutes or more and is suitable for families, groups and history fans.

There are sessions available on both Saturday and Sunday, with tickets including family and group options.

The exhibition continues at the NEC until September 13, so this is one of the final weekends to see it.
